3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer

LOUISIANA (KTAL/KMSS) – Brad Arnold, lead singer of the rock band 3 Doors Down, announced on Instagram Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs. The 46-year-old musician shared the news in an emotional video posted on the band’s official social media channels.

“I’ve got some not-so-good news for you today,” Arnold said in the video. “I had been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And it’s Stage 4, and that’s not real good.”

Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Arnold expressed optimism and faith. “But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am … ,” he said.

As a result of Arnold’s health condition, 3 Doors Down has canceled their upcoming summer tour, which included a scheduled performance at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 26. The band’s website has been updated to reflect the cancellation, with all tour dates removed and replaced by a message from Arnold. 3 Doors Down performed at the Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City, Louisiana, on November 16, 2024, as part of Creed’s “Are You Ready?” reunion tour.

In his message, Arnold referenced the band’s 2008 hit song “It’s Not My Time” as a source of personal inspiration during this challenging period. He concluded by thanking fans for their support and asking for prayers.

3 Doors Down, formed in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi, gained fame with their debut single “Kryptonite” and has since released multiple platinum-selling albums.

Arnold remains the band’s only original member.
