(NewsNation) — Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., believes President Trump’s likability would skyrocket if he released the entire Epstein files.
Khanna joined “CUOMO” on Thursday to discuss his passionate push to have the files released in full, and how it could shape the president’s legacy.
“I still hope that President Trump actually releases them; he could be a hero,” Khanna told NewsNation.
“I state today to President Trump: listen to the survivors. On Tuesday, there’s going to be a press conference, [and] they’re going to ask to meet with you. You could meet with them, and you could order the release of the files, and you’ll turn into a hero.”
Khanna denied that his interest in the files being released in full is related to any political point-scoring.
“I give Trump credit for elevating this issue,” he said. “… I have never said this is about Donald Trump. I’ve said this is about justice for the survivors. I have said it is about protecting the kids.”
Khanna’s appearance came one day after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released thousands of never-before-seen emails.
Shortly after the initial release, Republican lawmakers released tens of thousands of emails from Epstein’s estate.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said a vote to compel the Department of Justice to release all Epstein-related files could take place as soon as next week.
