(NewsNation) — Frank Stallone says he is “very proud” of his brother’s recognition as a Kennedy Center honoree.
Sylvester Stallone was one of several honorees named by President Trump on Wednesday, the others being country music star George Strait, singer Gloria Gaynor, the rock band Kiss and actor-singer Michael Crawford.
“There’s nobody else who could’ve done the roles like he did them, not even close. They tried, and it didn’t work out too well,” Trump said of Sylvester Stallone.
Frank Stallone joined “CUOMO” on Wednesday to discuss the honor bestowed upon his brother by the president.
“I think it’s well-deserved … no one worked harder. This man made a lot of people very, very wealthy over the last 50 years,” Stallone said.
“I think it’s apropos for President Trump to award my brother. I wish it was 20 years ago,” he added.
Sylvester Stallone is a supporter of the president, once describing him as “the second George Washington.” He was named by the president, along with Jon Voight and Mel Gibson, as a Hollywood special ambassador.
“We’re very happy. I’m sure he’s very touched by it,” Frank said of his brother’s likely reaction to being an honoree.
