(NewsNation) — NewsNation anchor Katie Pavlich believes the United States deserves to acquire Greenland.

Pavlich joined “CUOMO” on Tuesday to discuss the territory currently, part of the Kingdom of Denmark, as President Trump weighs using the U.S. military to acquire the ice-covered island.

She believes that, given the U.S. history of funding to NATO, Greenland is a just reward.

“The United States (has) been paying for NATO overwhelmingly, for years and years and years, they have not paid their fair share… Did they think that that was a free ride, that we were never going to cash the check in on what we deserve and what we’ve been paying for?” she said.

“It can be the United States of America, China, or Russia, who do you want it to be? Because you’re asking us to pay for the defense of Greenland, but you’re also not paying your fair share. So I see it as a compensation for the last many decades.”

Pavlich will host her own show on NewsNation every weeknight called “Katie Pavlich Tonight,” which premieres Jan. 19, at 10 p.m. ET.
