(NewsNation) — Count social media personality Amber Rose among the chorus of people calling for the release of Tory Lanez, the rapper serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

The legal defense team for Lanez has insisted that video evidence exculpates Lanez from being the person who shot and wounded Megan Thee Stallion in Los Angeles.

“He deserves to be pardoned by Gov. Gavin Newsom,” Rose, referring to Lanez, told “CUOMO” on Wednesday. “He’s 100% exonerated from the gun, and for that alone he should be home with his family.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s camp has pushed back at claims about new evidence, saying Lanez is pushing information that already was shared at trial.
