PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A woman was arrested and charged after breaking into an Ohio home and refusing to leave earlier this month.
According to a press release from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a 911 call about a burglary on Infirmary Road on Monday, Dec. 1.
According to the report, an unknown woman broke into a resident’s home and refused to leave.
At the scene, deputies made sure all the residents of the home were safe outside before entering the house to remove the unknown woman.
According to the release, the woman barricaded herself inside and upstairs bedroom and refused to surrender to authorities.
“After more than thirty minutes of attempts to get the suspect to peacefully surrender, less-lethal chemical munitions were inserted into the bedroom,” the release said.
The woman, identified as Christina Johnson, was then taken into custody and was booked into the Portage County Jail for the “second time in 30 hours,” the release said. She was charged with trespass in habitation and resisting arrest.
On Monday, Dec. 8, Johnson was released from jail on a $50,000 bond, the release said.
