(NewsNation) — A missing high school football coach from Virginia has now been declared a fugitive after it was revealed he has 10 warrants for his arrest.
Travis Turner, 46, is facing five charges of soliciting a child using a computer and five charges of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Who is Travis Turner?
Turner is the head football coach at Union High School in Wise County, Virginia. The team was preparing for a second-round playoff game after an undefeated season when he disappeared.
He is a former high school quarterback who played in three state championships in the 1990s.
Turner was also named Southwest Virginia Coach of the Year twice.
When did Travis Turner disappear?
Virginia State Police were on the way to Turner’s home Thursday evening to interview him as part of their investigation. They learned he was no longer there and had been last seen in the woods near his home.
His wife reported him missing Friday.
Is Travis Turner still employed?
Wise County Public Schools said last week that an unidentified employee had been put on administrative leave as part of an investigation into “external allegations.”

In 2023, Timothy Meandor, a coach and teacher at Union High School, was charged with one count of child solicitation and two counts of indecent liberties.
