Driver arrested after crashing into White House security gate

(NewsNation) —The Secret Service arrested a driver who crashed their vehicle into a security gate outside the White House late Tuesday.

The individual, who was not identified, drove into a Secret Service vehicle gate at approximately 10:37 p.m. local time.

“The vehicle was assessed by Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe. Additional information will be provided upon conclusion of the investigation,” a statement read.

The driver was taken to a hospital for mental health services, a law enforcement official told NewsNation. 

At this time, no information has been made available regarding a potential motive.
