GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (WJW) — A man wearing nothing but a tablecloth was caught on camera and taken into custody last month after allegedly stealing multiple vehicles in the suburbs of Atlanta.

Gwinnett County police said they were first alerted to the actions of a man named Mackienzy Kahl on Dec. 2, after a car was reported stolen and was believed to be in his possession.

Police said they were able to find the car that day, but the suspect was not inside.

Witnesses reportedly told police, he had exited the vehicle and run off. At the scene, police said “officers noticed signs that he may have been exposed to chemicals while inside the vehicle.”

As the search for the suspect continued, multiple 911 calls came in describing a man running around in nothing but a tablecloth, trying to break into cars.

Police learned a man matching Kahl’s description had then gone inside a residence, taken keys to a Mercedes and sped off in the vehicle. Police said they were able to catch up to Kahl and arrest him during a traffic stop shortly thereafter.

  • Theft by Taking
  • Burglary in the First Degree
  • Entering an Automobile or Other Motor Vehicle with Intent to Commit Theft or a Felony

  • Driving Without a Valid License

He is expected in court soon.
