(NewsNation) — The man who allegedly attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump in September is now wanted for attempted felony murder, the Florida Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.

Police found Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, Ryan Routh was arrested for an assassination attempt on Trump on Sept. 15. He also federal criminal charges.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody obtained an arrest warrant for Routh on an unrelated charge of attempted felony murder involving a six-year-old in a car accident.

According to Moody’s office, Routh fled the golf course after Secret Service members spotted him, and police chased him by car on the interstate.

“During the apprehension and arrest of Routh, a car accident occurred that caused serious injuries to the young victim,” a news release said.

Moody filed a federal lawsuit against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Oct. 23 over the FBI’s handling of the investigation into the assassination attempt.

“Despite the FBI’s and Department of Justice’s attempts to frustrate the state’s investigation of the assassination attempt itself, the state has nonetheless been able to investigate and identify other crimes committed by Routh on and around Sept. 15,” Moody said.

He faces life in prison if convicted.
