NEW YORK (PIX11) — A gunman who killed four people in a New York City office before taking his own life had more than 800 rounds of live ammunition in his possession, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

The spokesperson also noted investigators have uncovered dozens of discharged shell casings and bullet fragments from the crime scene.

Shane Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, walked into a Manhattan skyscraper on Monday and opened fire, police said. He double-parked a BMW while armed with a rifle and then approached the skyscraper.

More than 800 357-Magnum rounds were found in the car, according to the spokesperson.

Tamura then shot a woman who attempted to take cover, as he was “spraying” the lobby with gunfire, said Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch during a news conference. Twenty-three discharged shell casings and 13 bullet fragments were uncovered in the lobby where Tamura entered.

The gunman then took an elevator to the 33rd floor of a real estate management company and fatally shot one person on that floor before he killed himself, the commissioner said. Twenty-four discharged shell casings and 15 bullet fragments were found on the 33rd floor, an NYPD spokesperson said.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that investigators believe the gunman was trying to target the headquarters of the National Football League but accidentally entered the wrong set of elevator banks.
