(NewsNation) — The son of Norway’s crown princess has been indicted on multiple charges, including rape, domestic violence and assault, according to Reuters.

Marius Borg Hoiby, 28, is the son of Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Prince Haakon, the future king of Norway.

Hoiby faces 32 charges, including four counts of rape, some of which prosecutors said he recorded on his phone.

He could be sentenced up to 10 years in prison if found guilty of the most serious accusations.

Hoiby plans to plead guilty to lesser charges, “but does not agree with the claims regarding rape and domestic violence,” his lawyer, Petar Sekulic, told Reuters.

Hoiby does not have a royal title and is not in the line of royal succession.

“It is up to the courts to hear this case and to reach a decision,” Norway’s Royal Palace said in a statement.

Hoiby was investigated by police last year regarding allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend. He admitted to causing bodily harm to her and damaging her apartment while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, authorities said.

Reuters contributed to this report.
