Man accused of holding baby while driving drunk on Long Island: Police

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man holding a 5-month-old infant as he was driving was accused of driving drunk in Roosevelt on Saturday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police said it happened on John Street around 9:45 p.m. Luis Monge Saldivar was allegedly driving in and out of his lane, which is when officers pulled him over, according to authorities.

Police said officers found Saldivar holding the child when they got close to his 2004 Chevrolet. Saldivar is also accused of resisting arrest as police officers tried to take him into custody, according to authorities.

Police said the child was given to a family member. Saldivar was charged with aggravated DWI – child passenger less than 16, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and multiple driving violations.

He’s set to be arraigned Sunday.
