WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Authorities in Kansas are now offering a $2,000 reward as they seek information on a woman who was allegedly taken by force and have released surveillance footage of the possible abduction.

During a news conference on Tuesday, officials said the case remains active and open, as it is their “top priority” to make sure the woman is safe.

The woman was taken early Sunday morning, about 2 a.m. local time, according to the Wichita Police Department.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police said they haven’t been able to identify the man or woman in the video.

“We’ve worked throughout the day on this investigation, following up on numerous leads, and we appreciate the public’s help,” WPD said on Facebook. “Exploring all options, we’ve reached out to our regional and federal law enforcement partners for additional assistance.”

Investigators shared the video with the public with reduced background noise in hopes that someone would recognize the voice of the woman, who can be heard screaming.

One official with the department added the majority of tips that have come through Crime Stoppers thus far have suggested the department use AI in its search, and asked people to not suggest it, implying the technology is “a waste of time” for their investigation.

Police asked that if anyone recognizes either the man or the woman, they contact 911. Information can also be provided to WPD detectives at 316-268-4407.

Officials said at this time, there is no danger to the general public.
