(NewsNation) — Convicted murderer Bryan Kohberger reportedly told a fellow inmate inside the Latah County Jail that he was “very interested” in the trial of Alex Murdaugh.

Police interviews with Kohberger’s former cellmates were released this week as part of a 556-page document release related to the convicted murderer.

During an interview with the Idaho State Police and the FBI, two Latah County jail inmates, whose names were redacted, discussed their interactions with Kohberger.

Kohberger has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle on Nov. 13, 2022, in Moscow, Idaho.

On March 1, 2023, an inmate detailed his experience sharing a pod in prison with Kohberger. He noted that Kohberger began watching news coverage about his arrest and commented, “Wow, I’m on every channel.”

He added he enjoyed watching trial coverage on TV, particularly the Murdaugh case.

Murdaugh was convicted of killing his wife and son in South Carolina in 2023.

Inmates say Bryan Kohberger was quiet and awkward

The inmate noted that Kohberger was “very quiet” and “it was very awkward” sharing a pod with him for about three weeks before being transferred.  Additionally, he stated that Kohberger took hours-long showers and washed his hands so frequently that they were red.

The inmate told law enforcement officials that Kohberger told him that his favorite movie was “American Psycho” with Christian Bale.

Another inmate that shared prison housing with Kohberger from January to Feb. 15, 2023 recalled during his interview with police that he “enjoyed watching the news about his case unless it began talking about his family or friends, at which point he’d change the channel immediately,” and “As time continued, Kohberger stopped watching the news related to his case almost completely.”
