TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Busted doors and debris were what a lecturer at Florida State University found after being locked down for hours during Thursday’s school shooting.
Melina Myers, a photographer and computer science lecturer, posted video of the wreckage on X.
“Here’s what some of the Carothers Building on FSU campus looks like now — after SWAT team cleared the building,” Myers wrote in her post. “Pink slips taped to signify that an area was cleared. All locked doors were breached by forced entry.”
Myers said she was holding a class at the time of the shooting, which killed two people and injured six more.
“This building is where my class was being held, and where we locked down for 2 hours, until SWAT came and cleared us out,” she wrote.
Authorities have identified the shooter as FSU student Phoenix Ikner, who was cited in university media as being a political science major.
Law enforcement officers shot Ikner when he refused to comply with their commands, but he remains alive at a nearby hospital.
