AUBURNDALE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman out on probation is back behind bars, this time for allegedly running over her estranged husband’s new girlfriend.

“I knew that they had some problems, but I didn’t think it was like this, her wanting to really hurt somebody but apparently I was wrong,” said Shawn Holley, a witness and friend of the victim’s boyfriend.

Christdon Reese, 41, of Auburndale, is facing charges of attempted murder, violation of probation and trespassing after she used her vehicle to intentionally run over the victim, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Thursday, deputies said the victim and her boyfriend were walking out of a gas station and crossing a highway to go to a friend’s house. The victim’s boyfriend, also Reese’s estranged husband, spotted Reese driving past them, heading southbound on the highway.

Surveillance video from the gas station shows Reese using a nearby Family Dollar store parking lot to make a U-turn and head north, accelerating rapidly in the couple’s direction.

According to the sheriff’s office, the estranged husband saw Reese and advised the victim to run.

“She was running from the car at first and then the white car caught up to her, and just she fell down and the car ran right over her,” said Shawn Holley, the friend who the couple was visiting.

As the victim began running down a driveway at a home, Reese allegedly followed her and struck her with her vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene.

“I’m moving because of it. I mean it was traumatizing to see something like that happen,” said Holley.

“Christdon Reese needs to learn how to control her temper, and maybe some cooling off in the jail will help,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she suffered two spinal fractures but is expected to recover.

“Domestic-related calls are some of the worst calls to which we respond. When people allow their emotions to take over, it can result in injury or even death,” Judd added.

Reese, who was on probation for a 2023 retail theft in Osceola County, was arrested the following day and booked into the Polk County Jail. The resident of the home where Reese reportedly turned the vehicle around told deputies she was not allowed on his property, thus charging her with trespassing.

“Here’s one thing I know for sure. The boyfriend can date all the girls he wants to right now,” the sheriff said. “‘Cause she’s locked up in jail and can’t get to a car to run over anybody.”
