NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla (WFLA) — New Port Richey Police are asking the public to help identify four suspects after a physical altercation led to a man being stabbed outside a convenience store with a screwdriver.
“We don’t really know what the motive is. It appears to be random. Neither of the two parties knew each other, so we’re not sure if something was said. We’re not sure if something was done or anything along those lines,” said Detective David Crowell, with the New Port Richey Police Department.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. outside of the Main Street Food Store in downtown New Port Richey, according to police.
All four men, captured on nearby security cameras, fled the scene.
“We’ve received about a dozen phone calls and emails already that have led to some leads that have that are built for us. That have been very helpful,” said Crowell.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.
The police department says anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact the non-emergency line.
