ODESSA, Fla. (WFLA) — A family in Florida was forced out of their car at gunpoint in their own driveway, home security footage showed.

Two men, one of whom was wearing a high-visibility vest, snuck up behind the residents as they were getting out of a car in their driveway on Aug. 19, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The video shows the gunmen forcing the couple into their garage, where an alarm was triggered, and they ran away. HCSO detectives later found an AirTag tracking device taped beneath the victims’ vehicle.

The first suspect, Luis Charles, 26, was arrested in Tampa on Oct. 8. The second suspect, Odardy Maldonado-Rodriguez, 32, was arrested in Pasco County on Oct. 10.

“To be ambushed at gunpoint in the very place you should feel safest is every family’s worst nightmare,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Thanks to the work of our detectives, these dangerous criminals are now behind bars where they belong, and the victims, along with our community, can rest a little easier.”

Both suspects were charged with armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery and armed kidnapping while committing a felony.
