11,000 fentanyl pills seized in 5-month North Carolina drug sting

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — During a five-month sting operation culminating in a drug raid on Tuesday, Edgecombe County deputies arrested a duo and seized 11,000 fentanyl pills along with a gun, deputies said.

The incident began in July and continued with “numerous” controlled buys of fentanyl from a man in the Princeville area, according to a Tuesday Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office news release.


During the investigation, including a search warrant executed Tuesday in Princeville, deputies said they seized more than 2.1 pounds of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of the pills exceeding $70,000.

The operation led to a raid at the main suspect’s Howard Street home in Princeville, according to the news release.

The main suspect was found in a bedroom with a woman, who was also arrested, deputies said.

“Both individuals were taken into custody without incident, despite a loaded Glock 9mm handgun located on the nightstand,” the release said.

During the raid, investigators seized more than 2.1 pounds of fentanyl, a Glock handgun, extended ammo magazines, U.S. currency, drug packaging materials and paraphernalia, deputies said.

The news release said Sha’zire White, who lives in the home, was charged with:

The woman in the bedroom with White, Tramya Stokes, was charged with a count of trafficking and a count of maintaining a dwelling for storing a controlled substance, deputies said.

White and Stokes were transported to a magistrate, who ordered the duo held without bond.

Bond hearings are scheduled to be set by a District Court Judge on Wednesday.
