Father turns in son after fatal shooting in Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Police in Leesburg didn’t have to search long for a suspect in a fatal shooting that happened Friday. The young man’s father turned him in to the police station later that night.

Officers with the Leesburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on June 27 at around 7 p.m. They arrived to find the 20-year-old victim suffering a gunshot wound.


The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

While investigators were at the scene of the crime, the suspect, 18-year-old Kameryn Pickard, and his father arrived at the police station, where he turned himself in.

Pickard was booked into the Lake County jail and has been charged with premeditated homicide.
