(NewsNation) — A private investigator says he has conveyed surveillance video to the Los Angeles Police Department that shows the last person to drive singer D4vd’s Tesla before it was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills with the body of a teen runaway inside.
Steven Fischer obtained the July 29 video while working for the landlord of the house where D4vd had been staying earlier this year. The PI said he believes the footage shows the last time the Tesla was driven before the car was left on a nearby street, ticketed and towed Sept. 5 to a Hollywood impoundment lot.
On Sept. 8, the remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a minor who has been linked with 20-year-old D4vd, were found in the front trunk.
Fischer confirmed he was able to discern who was driving the car last, based on visual evidence in the new video.
The Tesla “comes very close to the camera, although there is some motion blur,” the investigator told “Banfield” on Friday. “But you can see the person … they’re wearing something pretty distinctive, and there’s photos that I have from 12 hours earlier of a person at the house wearing the same thing.”
He declined to share the driver’s identity, citing an ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, which he now expects to move forward.
“That’s coming because we know a crime was committed — 100 percent,” Fischer said. “Somebody concealed her body.”
He said there’s also a chance the person seen driving the vehicle was simply asked to move the car.
“I find that very hard to believe, and I doubt that’s the case, but, just in case, I’d rather LAPD make that announcement.”
D4vd was in Los Angeles at the time the video of the Tesla was taken, said Fischer, who based his statement on social media posts about the recording artist’s touring activities.
The singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has not been accused of wrongdoing, and his representatives say he has cooperated with police.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner says Rivas Hernandez’s cause of death has been “deferred” and requested additional testing. The teen had been missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, Calif., since early 2024 when she was 13.
Family members held a funeral at Queen of Heaven Cemetery & Mortuary in Rowland Heights earlier this month.
