(NewsNation) — “Sesame Street” characters Bert and Ernie were mentioned in the federal sex crimes trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs on Thursday.

Combs’ ex-girlfriend, testifying under the pseudonym “Jane”, took the stand Thursday, alleging he manipulated her into performing sex acts with male sex workers throughout their relationship from 2021 until his arrest in 2024.

During her testimony, Jane said she and Combs shared pet names, including “Sean, Baby, Ernie, Snookums.”

Jane’s nickname for Combs, “Ernie,” was inspired by the classic “Sesame Street” duo Bert and Ernie.

When asked about the reasoning behind the pet name, she explained, “Because that was our nickname for one another.”

Jane said her nickname from Combs was “Bert.”

Combs has been charged with criminal federal racketeering and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.
