A verdict was reached in the Sean “Diddy” Combs case. Read more here.
(NewsNation) — The witness known by the pseudonym “Jane” told the jury Monday that she and Sean “Diddy” Combs got into a physical altercation shortly after the video of Combs allegedly beating his then-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, in a hotel hallway was leaked.
The video was from a 2016 incident at a Los Angeles hotel, in which Combs is allegedly seen dragging and kicking the singer away from a hotel elevator. CNN obtained and published the video in May of last year.
Jane told the jury on Monday that about a month after the video was released, she and Combs fought and punched each other at her LA home, which she testified that he paid for.
She said the two had a few drinks but then began arguing. Jane said she confronted Combs about being with another woman while on a family trip to Utah.
Jane told the jury that when Combs bent down to tie his shoe, she slammed his head into a marble counter.
“I gave it a good shot,” she said.
She testified she threw glasses and candles at the music mogul, screaming “I hate you,” before locking herself in a bedroom.
Jane claimed Combs kicked down doors to get to her, and as she started to run away, Combs kicked her to the ground.
Combs then allegedly put Jane in a chokehold before she wriggled her way free and ran outside.
After hiding for hours, she returned to the house, but Combs was there, and the two started fighting again. Jane testified that they traded punches before Combs allegedly knocked her to the ground and continued hitting her.
After showering, Combs told her to ice her injuries and put on lingerie, Jane said, and he called over a male escort.
Combs, 55, faces federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He has pleaded not guilty.
Jane testifies about Diddy’s immediate reaction to Cassie hotel video
Jane testified Monday that she worked with Combs on an apology video after the video of him allegedly dragging her through a hotel hallway was leaked.
She said that day, Combs’ son came into his bedroom to tell him something had happened.
Jane told the jury that she was part of a huddle that included Combs, a writer, his sons and others as they crafted an apology statement together.
She said she gave feedback to Combs and claimed the version she saw seemed heartfelt and addressed Ventura by name.
Jane said that video was different than the one that Combs eventually posted to social media, which she said didn’t seem genuine.
This response prompted an objection by Combs’ defense team, who requested that portion of her testimony be struck. The prosecution agreed to strike that line of questioning.
Later, she testified that Combs claimed “Cassie was a hitter” when referring to the 2016 video.
Diddy’s legal team calls for a mistrial
Combs’ legal team has requested a mistrial over the weekend, the second time they have requested it.
On June 7, Combs’ defense team wrote a motion to Judge Arun Subramanian seeking a renewed motion for a mistrial based on Bryana Bongolan’s testimony, citing a prosecutorial misconduct claim.
The defense claims that the government pushed false testimony from Bongolan regarding the alleged balcony assault. Bongolan testified that Combs dangled her over Ventura’s apartment balcony in September 2016.
Combs’ attorneys wrote in their motion, “The prosecutors elicited evidence about this allegation from both Ms. Ventura and Ms. Bongolan that is demonstrably false in key respects. They then doubled down, using this false testimony to obtain a ruling admitting inadmissible hearsay evidence about it as well, all to present a false narrative to the jury.”
The judge said he would hear arguments Tuesday and allow the prosecution time to respond.
Combs’ defense team requested a mistrial last month after the court learned fingerprint evidence was destroyed following the car-bombing at rapper Kid Cudi’s home. That request was denied.
‘Jane’ returns to witness stand for third day of testimony
A woman using the pseudonym “Jane” will begin the fifth week of testimony in the federal case against Combs, returning for her third day on the stand after telling jurors last week she performed sexual acts for the music producer over several years.
Jane, identified as “Victim 2” in Combs’ indictment, has said she was in a relationship with Combs from 2021 until his arrest in 2024. Jane is the second accuser to testify anonymously in the trial. Her testimony followed that of “Mia,” Combs’ former assistant, identified as “Victim 4″ in the indictment.
On Friday, Jane said Combs referred to her as his “freak” and that she was expected to meet his sexual demands regardless of her comfort level.
Jane returned to the stand Monday.
She was presented with a text exchange from September 2023 between herself and Combs. The rapper asked her to “send something of [her] being a bad girl.” Jane thought he was requesting a video from a “hotel night.”
Jane was upset because she believed Combs was with another woman at the time and replied that he should ask the other woman to sexually excite him.
Combs replied, “F–. I got the phone. Just do what I say. Please don’t say no to me.”
Jane expressed during her testimony that she told Combs of her frustration with their relationship, sensing he was using her for “hotel nights.”
She told Combs, “I don’t wanna be used and locked in a room to fulfill your fantasies. I’m coming to the realization of what this is.”
She explained she understood that Combs was paying for her house as a way for her to keep up with his sexual demands.
On September 17, 2023, she texted Combs, “I feel this is the only reason you have me around. That’s why you pay for the house.”
Jane testifies that ‘hotel nights’ felt like ‘loveless, cold sex’ with strangers
In texts from October 2023, Jane told Combs, “It’s been three years of me having to f*** strangers, I’m tired.”
Combs questioned if they were breaking up, which Jane said she wanted the relationship but did not want to participate in “hotel nights.” She described “hotel nights” as “loveless, cold sex.”
Jane shared with Combs in the messages that “sex is sacred to me,” and he asked for a day with just the two of them together. She shot back to spend it with another woman named “Gina” or his family.
During their text fight, Combs countered and wrote, “No, I wanna see you. We don’t have to have sex.” But Jane replied that he was “love bombing” to get what he wanted.
Jane explained on the stand that Combs would use love bombing in order to secure “hotel nights.”
On October 17, 2023, Jane said, “I’m not trying to f— strangers to fulfill your fetishes.”
Jane and Combs continued to argue over text.
She asked for the mogul to leave her alone; however, he continued to text her.
“Can I please come over there? That’s my house too,” Combs wrote.
He shared screenshots of message between him and his doctor about his knees along with a text to Jane, “I’m so stressed, too much going on and on top of that I’m horny.”
She replied, “Just breathe and take this one thing at a time.”
Later that night, Jane went to see Combs at his home in Bel Air. She attended his concert, and afterward, she and Combs’ assistant, Jonathan, went shopping for “hotel night” outfits.
Combs’ ex-girlfriend said the record label executive became frustrated by how long it was taking. Jane answered his call, and he called her a “bitch.”
When she arrived at the hotel, another Combs’ assistant, Brendan, told Jane, “You don’t deserve to be called a bitch.”
That night, Jane had a “hotel night” with Combs where she had intercourse with three male sex workers.
She vomited between the second and third, and she felt “absolutely terrible” when it ended.
Jane texted Combs a good morning message on October 20, 2023, and requested money from him. He did not respond. She tried him a day later.
Combs sent her a voice note that say in part, “Leave me the fuck alone… I need to chill… I’m single.”
October 24, 2023, Jane told Combs their relationship was “toxic,” and she felt “violated and manipulated” by her then-partner. She asked for money again, and she said that Combs threatened to stop paying for her home. She said she was “livid” and told him, “I’m not Gina or Cassie.”
Jane told Combs, “I don’t want to speak to you. You are a threat to my health and to my sanity”; “You created all this evil inside me, leave me alone”; “I regret everything… dark toxic shit.”
After their argument, Combs and Jane saw each other again.
Jane testifies she fainted after reading Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy
Jane said on the stand that when she read Ventura’s lawsuit, she fell “almost faint — in fact, I think I did faint.”
She elaborated that Ventura’s lawsuit “resembled her experience” almost identically. Jane continued, “I reacted like I can’t believe what I’m reading… I’m reading my own story.”
Jane said she and Ventura only met once, around Father’s Day in 2015, at a fashion show, but she felt deep sympathy for the singer.
A day after Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs, November 17, 2023, Jane wrote the entertainment entrepreneur, “Before you left town, I was up and down your phone about I didn’t want any more of those nights.” Jane explained she meant “hotel nights,” particularly with three male sex workers.
After a separation from Combs, Jane joined OnlyFans, a paid subscription service that is used by many adult entertainers, in January. She said her finances improved.
Combs reached out to Jane in February 2024, asking to spend her birthday together. He told her it would be “wholesome,” implying there would be no “hotel night” behavior.
It began as a romantic evening, yet as the night progressed, Combs informed Jane, while they were both under the influence of ecstasy, that there was a male sex performer to join her.
Jane said Combs asked, “Do you want to see Don?”
The male performer was there. Jane had sex with him in front of Combs. She recovered for two days and then joined Combs in Los Angeles.
In May, July, and August, Jane and Combs had “hotel nights.”
Combs continued to pay her rent.
On March 7, 2024, Combs texted Jane, “What’s gonna happen if I come over tonight?”
Jane tried to push off a “hotel night” and told the rapper she had her period.
The conversation switched to Combs asking her to “sign something” in order to have “closure comfortably,” and said Jane was making her own money now. The influencer took this as a breakup conversation. Combs questioned her if she would sue.
HSI agents came to her home during Combs’ raid. They left their card. She reached out to Combs, who did not respond, so Jane tried a member of his team. She was advised to speak to Combs’ attorney, which she did. She retained her own attorney, paid for by Combs, and now has a different attorney currently paid for by the mogul.
Jane testifies male sex worker attempted to extort her
Jane said that a male sex worker, Cabral, who participated in a “hotel night,” threatened to release a video of them engaging in sex unless she paid him $10,000.
She informed Combs, who involved his attorneys.
A media company purchased the tap,e according to Jane; however, it has not been released.
Jane spent much of her testimony last week discussing “hotel nights” in which she engaged with male sex workers under Diddy’s instruction, similarly to statements from Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. Ventura has called these events “Freak Offs.”
Jane testified that Combs did not want male sex workers to use condoms when she had sex with them. She said she would ask Combs to use protection, and he would “guilt trip” her or ignore the request.
She said a “hotel night” could last between 12 and 30 hours. Between May 2021 and October 2023, these nights usually involved heavy drug use, Jane told the jury on Friday.
Jane said Combs would provide the drugs so that she could perform sexual acts.
She said she would book flights for the male sex workers involved in these events, including one performer who was based in Atlanta and who flew to Los Angeles and New York.
Jane testified there were times she was hungry, tired and in need of a break, but that Combs would tell her, “You’re not getting tired on me, are you? Let’s finish strong.”
In addition to the “hotel nights,” Jane said she smuggled drugs for Combs on more than one occasion.
During a flight from Los Angeles to Miami, she said she had pills in her suitcase on a commercial flight.
She said Combs’ chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, reassured her when Jane expressed concern over transporting the illegal substances, saying, “It’s fine, I do it all the time.”
Jane testified she had several urinary tract infections that stemmed from choreographed “hotel nights,” which involved marathon-sex sessions with male sex workers and Combs. She said her genitals and lower back were sore from the encounters.
Judge Arun Subramanian ordered that no one in the press could sketch or describe Jane in any fashion that may reveal her to the public, though jurors were informed of her true name.
The decision was made after some media outlets reported the true identity of a witness using the pseudonym “Mia.” She testified last week that Combs sexually assaulted her while she worked as his assistant.
