Brian Walshe timeline: Wife’s death, disappearance and investigation

(NewsNation) — The murder of Ana Walshe in Cohasset, Massachusetts, has left more questions than answers.

Brian Walshe, Ana Walshe’s husband, is accused of killing her and dismembering her body two years ago.


Ana Walshe was last seen at her home on Jan. 1, 2023, after she purportedly left for a business trip, but investigators say she never boarded her plane bound for Washington, D.C.

Before the jury was selected for his trial last month, Brian Walshe changed his plea on two of the charges against him.

He pleaded guilty to improper conveyance of a human body and misleading a police investigation, court documents show. Brian Walshe maintained his innocence on the murder charge.

Here is a timeline of the events that occurred leading up to Brian Walshe’s murder trial.

Ana Walshe goes missing on Jan. 1, 2023

Dec. 31, 2022: Brian Walshe and Ana Walshe hosted a New Year’s Eve dinner with a friend, Jim Unger, around 8:30 p.m. Unger left the home between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., and the Walshes went to bed.

Jan. 1, 2023: Ana Walshe was last seen at her home early in the morning. She was set to leave the home and fly from Boston’s Logan Airport to Washington, D.C., for a work trip.

Jan. 2, 2023: Surveillance video from a Home Depot shows Brian Walshe purchasing $450 worth of cleaning supplies.

On the same day, police said Ana Walshe’s cell phone pinged in the area around her home after Brian Walshe said she had left for her trip.

Ana Walshe reported missing

Jan. 4, 2023: Ana Walshe’s employer notifies police she never showed up for work. Cohasset police received a call from her co-worker, Hugh Dunleavy, about her disappearance rather than from her husband, Brian Walshe.

Jan. 5, 2023: Cohasset police begin their search for Ana Walshe and request the public’s help in locating her whereabouts.

Jan. 6, 2023: Authorities confirmed Ana Walshe never boarded her flight to D.C.

Police suspend search for Ana Walshe

Jan. 7, 2023: Massachusetts state troopers and Cohasset police suspend their search for Ana Walshe, acknowledging they would not continue unless new information was brought forward.

Jan. 8, 2023: Police arrest Brian Walshe for obstruction of justice regarding the search for his wife.

Authorities said Brian Walshe did not tell police he had been to the home improvement store before Ana’s disappearance. Brian Walshe did say he had been to a supermarket and a pharmacy.

Investigators discover broken knife and blood in the Walshe home

Jan. 9, 2023: While searching the Walshe home, investigators find a broken knife and blood in the basement.

The same day, Brian Walshe is arraigned in a Quincy court.

Jan. 10, 2023: A hacksaw and blood evidence are discovered in the trash at Peabody transfer station by investigators.

Brian Walshe pleads guilty to obstruction of justice

Feb. 9, 2023: In court, Brian Walshe pleads not guilty to a single count of misleading investigators in connection with the disappearance of Ana Walshe.

Nov. 18, 2025: Court documents show Brian Walshe reversed his decision and pleaded guilty to improper conveyance of a human body and misleading a police investigation.
