TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa man has been charged with false imprisonment and sexual battery, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office said.

Hillsborough County Jail records also identified 28-year-old Andrew Grant as a senior airman at MacDill Air Force Base.

The sheriff’s office said an investigation began July 30, when the victim came forward. Detectives learned Grant sexually battered and held the victim against her will at his residence, before she was able to flee and call for help.

Grant was arrested two days later, on August 1, and was charged with false imprisonment, a third-degree felony, and sexual battery, a second-degree felony. He is being held at the Falkenburg Road Jail on a $205,000 bond.

“Sexual violence has no place in our community, and we will seek justice for survivors,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We commend this victim for coming forward so we could remove this predator from our streets.”

HCSO said this is an ongoing investigation, and urges anyone with additional information to contact their office at (813)-247-8200.

NewsNation affiliate WFLA has reached out to MacDill AFB for comment, but has not heard back yet.
