(NewsNation) — The United States Postal Service will raise shipping prices for another year in a row, but the cost of regular mailing services will remain unchanged.
In November, the USPS filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission on the proposed hikes for shipping services, which include a 6.6% increase for Priority Mail, 5.1% for Priority Mail Express, 7.8% for USPS Ground Advantage and 6% for Parcel Select.
The price changes take effect Jan. 18, 2026. The price of a First-Class Mail stamp will not change because USPS is not adjusting prices for its mailing services.
Shipping service prices are adjusted based on market conditions, unlike mailing service rates, which are tied to the consumer price index.
The Postal Service, which receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, relies on postage and product sales to fund its operations.
“The (board of) governors believe these new rates will keep the Postal Service competitive while providing the organization with needed revenue,” the USPS said in a statement.
USPS also raised shipping prices in 2025, with the steepest increase at the time being 9.2% for Parcel Select services.
