(NewsNation) — Not everything is bigger in Texas.

According to a Redfin report on rent affordability, the Lonestar State houses the top three most affordable metropolitan areas compared to the salaries earned.

Based on December data, Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the largest percentage difference between required income and estimated median renter income.

Raleigh, North Carolina, Denver, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Maryland, and Nashville, Tennessee round out the top 10.

As for the least affordable, Providence, Rhode Island tops the list ahead of Miami, Florida and New York, New York.

Los Angeles, Boston, San Diego, Riverside, California, Tampa, Philadelphia and Buffalo, New York round out the top 10 least affordable.

According to the report, American renters must earn $63,680 to afford the median asking rent for an apartment. This figure is the lowest required since the early months of 2022.
