(NewsNation) — More than 7.4 million people, including seniors, adults and children, receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits, according to the latest data from the agency.

Anyone who receives SSI benefits will receive two payments in December, in addition to their regular Social Security benefit check.

December Social Security payment schedule

If you want to monitor your payments in December, you can find the agency’s retirement benefit schedule online for 2025 and 2026. The SSA staggers its retirement payments by your birth date, which has the following breakdown:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 10: Birth dates between the 1st and the 10th
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st

If you receive SSI, you will receive two payments this month on Dec. 1 and Dec. 31.

The full SSI payment schedule for the rest of 2025 is as follows:

  • Monday, Dec. 1
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31

If you don’t receive a payment, the SSA recommends contacting your bank or financial institution to see if there is a delay. The agency also suggests waiting three mailing days before contacting the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
