(NewsNation) — The Powerball numbers that could unlock a $1.8 billion fortune were selected Wednesday: 4, 25, 31, 52, 59, Powerball 19.
The Christmas Eve drawing represented the second-largest jackpot in Powerball history, with an optional lump-sum payout valued at more than $781 million.
The odds of someone winning were one in 292 million, but a Christmas Eve miracle happened before, in 2011.
And while lottery experts say there’s no proven way to pick winning numbers, more players are turning to artificial intelligence to generate their picks.
If someone wins in Wednesday’s drawing, the payout will vary by state of residence. In only a handful of states would a jackpot winner actually become a billionaire, as long as they opt for the less-common payout method and don’t mind waiting three decades.
As long as you matched at least the red Powerball, your ticket is worth some money. Not including the grand prize, there are eight ways to win while playing Powerball.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST. It’s played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $2 each, with the Power Play option available in participating states for $1 more.
