(NewsNation) — Social Security and Supplemental Security Income recipients will experience an unusual payment schedule in August, as some will receive more than one payment.
Unlike under the regular payment schedule, SSI benefit checks will be handed out twice in August, while Social Security recipients will receive the usual three payments in August.

For those who want to monitor payments closely in August or need a way to structure their budget, the regular Social Security retirement benefit schedule for 2025 and 2026 can be found online.
Approximately 7.4 million seniors, adults and children receive SSI benefits, according to an internal 2023 report.
The Social Security Administration staggers retirement payments by birthdate, so the breakdown will be as follows:
Wednesday, Aug. 13: Birthdates between the 1st and 10th.
Wednesday, Aug. 20: Birthdates between the 11th and 20th.
Wednesday, Aug. 27: Birthdates between the 21st and 31st.
SSI recipients will receive two payments in August: one on Friday, Aug. 1, and another on Friday, Aug. 29, similar to May’s payment schedule.
This means that there will technically be no SSI payments in September.
The remainder of 2025’s SSI schedule is:
- Wednesday, Oct. 1
- Friday, Oct. 31
- Monday, Dec. 1
- Wednesday, Dec. 31
