(NewsNation) — Outages reported by thousands of people using Facebook and Instagram Tuesday morning have been resolved, a Meta spokesperson said.

“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said on X. “We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Both Instagram and Facebook had been showing “failure to load” error pages earlier in the day, NewsNation affiliate WFLA reported.

Facebook had 315,000 outage reports as of 9:26 a.m. CT, while Instagram had nearly 56,500, according to Downdetector.

NewsNation has reached out to Meta to see what caused the outages.
