(NewsNation) — AT&T has agreed to a $177 million settlement following two data breaches in 2024 that exposed customer’s Social Security numbers, call records and other sensitive information.
NewsNation affiliate PIX reports that the first breach was announced on March 30, 2024 and allegedly compromised names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, birth dates, account passcodes, billing account numbers, and Social Security numbers. The second breach was announced on July 12, 2024, with the company revealing that hackers had accessed customers’ call and text records.
According to the settlement website, customers could receive up to $7,500 between the two settlements. Those who believe their data was compromised can file a claim using this link. The deadline to file is November 18.
While the telecommunications company has agreed to the settlement, it still needs to be approved in court. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas will hold a final approval hearing on December 3, 2025.
