(NewsNation) — Warehouse retailer Costco announced it will be switching from Pepsi to Coke at its food courts over the summer.

CEO Ron Vachris announced the change in response to a question during a shareholder meeting last week.

The company originally switched from Coca-Cola to Pepsi in 2013 to help maintain the price of the $1.50 hot dog combo, which the retail giant has said is here to stay.

The switch comes as Costco rejected a plan to cut DEI and faces a possible strike at the end of January.

During the meeting, shareholders voted against a proposal to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies, with 98% of shareholders expressing support for DEI.

President Donald Trump is an outspoken opponent of DEI policies and has already signed executive orders eliminating government versions. A number of large corporations have followed his lead, announcing an end to the policies designed to prevent discrimination and protect diverse workers.

The retailer is also facing a labor dispute, with Teamsters planning to strike at Costco warehouses at the end of the month.

Key issues in the labor dispute include higher wages, less surveillance of workers, paid family leave and more sick time.
