(NewsNation) — In May 2018, Jonathan Oddi opened fire at a Florida resort and golf course owned by President Donald Trump’s National Doral Miami resort.
Oddi, who later said he was in the middle of a bipolar episode, fired his gun, allegedly shooting at police officers before being shot in the leg and arrested.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office filed charges against Oddi for attempted felony murder of law enforcement officers, armed burglary and armed grand theft.
Trump hotel shooter claims he was ‘sex slave’ for Diddy, Cassie
In a video of Oddi’s interrogation by Florida authorities, which was posted online, Oddi claimed he’d been a sex slave for Sean “Diddy” Combs and Combs’ then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
He then went on to state, “I had sex with Cassie (Ventura) and Sean. Basically, he would masturbate and tell me what to do to Cassie. I had like 15 encounters, and I heard lots of business … I was like a sex slave. For them, that’s what I was.”
Oddi would go on to say he settled a claim with Combs and, as part of the settlement, he turned over a video recording of his time with Combs and Ventura.
After the settlement, Oddi said, Combs was “scared I will expose him.”
“My settlement put me in a box. Basically, I couldn’t talk because I was going to be sued. They kept following me,” Oddi said.
Trump hotel shooter says he met Diddy
In 2018, authorities discounted most of what Oddi told them. His ramblings about having any connection to Combs seemed far-fetched.
But Oddi’s allegations against Combs are strikingly similar to the testimony offered by Ventura in court Tuesday.
NewsNation reached out to Oddi to talk about his claims and why he’d agreed to talk now about his relationship with Combs and Ventura.

Oddi told NewsNation he “felt bad because I got along well with her (Cassie) and I think she is a decent person, and I had a suspicion that she was in a situation that she was in, but I wasn’t sure. And now, I understand what was going on in her life and what was happening, and him beating her up in the hotel shows me the type of individual he is and that everything that happened to me is … true and correct and in line with his personality.”
Oddi told NewsNation he initially met Combs after the rapper/producer called an agency that Oddi worked for and requested a show. Oddi’s comments to NewsNation were similar to those he told the police in his 2018 interrogation.
‘It was like $800 each time’: Trump hotel shooter on Diddy, Cassie ‘sessions’
“I get dressed, and I’m (in) a police officer (costume). I stripped down and then, you know, they offer me some more money to extra stuff,” Oddi said.
That extra stuff, Oddi told NewsNation, included candles, a sensual atmosphere and having the lights off.
Diddy “would sit in a corner on the sofa, watching, masturbating. And he say (sic), he’d tell her, give her instructions on what to do to me. Perform oral sex, rub baby oil and he’d tell me to rub baby oil on her, perform oral sex and have sex.”
Oddi claimed he had around 15 sessions with Ventura and Combs. “It was like $800 each time,” Oddi claimed. “Sometimes he’d call me twice. Even three hours later, he’d call me to come back.”
Trump hotel shooter allegedly recorded ‘session’ with Cassie, Diddy
Oddi also claimed the sessions were drug-fueled, noting to NewsNation that after Ventura passed out during one of their sessions, the concern that either Ventura or someone else would overdose led him to capture one of their sessions on video.
“After she passed out,” Oddi said, “I decided to record that in the event anything was happen, like if she died or anybody died, it would be on camera, on video what happened. I wasn’t responsible for any of that.”
Oddi said he recorded the session on a USB memory stick from a specialty store that sells discreet devices.
“I put it on the table and filmed the entire session. I had it transcribed. They had been threatening me. But he (Diddy) would tell her what to say.” The sessions came to an end after Oddi argued with Combs.
He told NewsNation that “when I left, I knew that they were paranoid … so I wanted to guarantee my safety. So, I said, I text them, I said if anything happens to me, I have evidence of being with you.”
Trump hotel shooter says a settlement was reached in 2014
Oddi said to prevent the recording from becoming public, Combs was inclined to reach a settlement in which Oddi received $5 million. This settlement reportedly occurred in 2014.
The Daily Mail published a screenshot of what appears to be a signature page from the alleged settlement agreement, signed by Combs and Oddi.
However, NewsNation has not been able to obtain the document or verify its contents, or authenticity, nor have we been able to verify the existence of the video Oddi claims to have given to Combs. However, the Daily Mail reported the timing of the alleged settlement coincided with Oddi buying a significant amount of Florida real estate.
The settlement also coincided with Oddi’s divorce. His ex-wife told the Daily Mail she found out about the settlement only after their divorce. She also said Oddi had a mental breakdown before he went into the Trump resort with a gun, four years later.
Trump hotel shooter still in Florida jail
In his interview with NewsNation, Oddi said his mental health is improving.
“Basically, the day the incident happened at Trump’s National Doral, I had taken medication. I think I was bipolar, but I wasn’t sure. And I had an episode and basically, I have been taking my medication every day, and I’ve been stable. I had no issues in jail. I have no bad incident behavior in jail, and I am feeling ready to come out in society and be a productive member of society.”
Oddi is still in custody in Florida, awaiting trial on charges of felony charges of attempted murder of law-enforcement officers, armed burglary and armed grand theft.
NewsNation reached out to Combs’ legal team for comment regarding Oddi’s “sex slave” claims but has yet to hear back.
