(NewsNation) — A new Sean “Diddy” Combs documentary is generating lots of interest, and a former NYPD detective and “hip-hop expert” says never-before-seen video of him days before his arrest was shocking.

“I think what happened was that when he did this video in the hotel, he was probably thinking that he was going to … be acquitted and he was going to probably get out,” Derrick Parker said while appearing Wednesday on “Banfield.”

Diddy “could probably run back his last days before he got arrested, so he can use that for some footage later on. But it sort of backfired on him because now I don’t think he wanted it to get out.”

The clip Parker highlights shows Diddy talking to his lawyers, on a bicycle and traveling around New York City. It’s just one of the revealing moments in “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” which chronicles Combs’ ascent to become one of the most powerful men in hip-hop and his downfall over a litany of accusations involving sexual assault and abuse.

The documentary also spotlights the deaths of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, and includes Keefe D’s statement about the actual murder of Tupac in Las Vegas. Also revealed: Combs billed the estate to Christopher Wallace for Biggie’s funeral.

Asked if Combs could ever be put on trial for Biggie and Tupac’s murders, Parker acknowledged it’s possible, but said there would need to be a lot of “corroboration to make it stick.”

“It’s not anything substantial or concrete that he was involved,” Parker said. “It’s personally from people talking about it and saying this is what happened. You need some more information to come forward to prove that.”

Cassie hotel video changed people’s thoughts about Diddy: Ex-detective

Parker said the public’s perception about Combs shifted last year when a video from 2016 went public showing him attack his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

“You had a male and a female that were involved in domestic violence and it spiralled out of control, where it led to other things,” he said.

Ventura testified in court against Combs earlier this summer and also detailed that he threatened her that he would release footage of her participating in choreographed, dayslong orgies he called “Freak Offs.”

Combs was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted on two counts of prostitution. He was found not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking. Combs is still in the appeal process to get the conviction thrown out.
