(NewsNation) — Melodee Buzzard’s paternal grandmother, Lilly Denes, expressed frustration following Ashlee Buzzard, the mother of missing 9-year-old Melodee, being released from custody.

Ashlee Buzzard appeared in court Wednesday and was released wearing an ankle monitor. The case was unrelated to her daughter and instead was regarding a false imprisonment charge.

Ashlee is also prohibited from having any weapons, and she can’t make any contact with the accuser, Tyler S. Brewer.

Melodee Buzzard has not been seen for 34 days as the investigation continues into her location, despite Ashlee’s unwillingness to cooperate with the police.

Brewer, who filed the false imprisonment charges against Ashlee on Friday, told NewsNation she revealed to him where Melodee is and who she was left with.

He did not share any further details of her whereabouts with NewsNation, except to say he suspects the girl is in Utah. Brewer also shared concern about whether what Ashlee Buzzard told him was true, given her state of mind and recent behavior.

Speaking to NewsNation affiliate KTLA after Ashlee’s hearing, Denes expressed her anger at the ruling.

“They let her go, and they didn’t even [say] anything about the baby missing,” Denes told KTLA, admitting she was “really mad.”

“She has a record of being in the loony hospital in Camarillo twice … I knew she was an odd lady; I knew it from the first time I met her. I knew something was wrong with her,” Denes said.

Investigators confirmed Melodee was with her mother, and both were wearing wigs, in a video from Oct. 9, around the Colorado–Utah border area.

Melodee Buzzard is approximately 4 feet 6 inches tall, 60 pounds, with brown curly hair and brown eyes.
