Former prosecutor and criminal defense attorney Matt Murphy joins NewsNation to discuss the upcoming trial of Stephan Sterns, who is accused of molesting and murdering his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter, Madeline Sotto. Police say Sterns abused Madeline for years before strangling her and dumping her body along a rural road in central Florida, just days after her 13th birthday. Surveillance footage shows Sterns driving with her body before moving it to the trunk. In newly released jailhouse calls, Sterns claims he found Madeline dead but seemingly admits to possessing illegal photos of her, alleging she had a crush on him and that her mother was aware. Madeline’s mother has not been charged.
