Casey Anthony and Megan Boswell parallels are ‘scary’: Lawyer

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (NewsNation) — Megan Boswell’s murder trial, which began this week in Tennessee, parallels the high-profile case of Casey Anthony, as both involve the tragic deaths of their young children.

Cheney Mason, Anthony’s defense attorney, told NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield it’s been “scary to be looking at another story like this.”

“There’s a lot of similarities,” Mason said on “Banfield.” “A beautiful baby found dead. The question is who, where, when and why.”

Megan Boswell faces numerous charges, including first-degree murder, in the death of her 15-month-old daughter Evelyn, who was the subject of a February 2020 Amber Alert, NewsNation’s Tennessee affiliate WJHL reported. Evelyn was later found dead on a family member’s property in March 2020.

Boswell faces the following charges:

Casey Anthony’s case

Caylee Anthony’s skeletal remains were found Dec. 11, 2008, in an area near her family’s home in Orlando, Florida.

Caylee was last seen June 16, 2008, and was reported missing by the child’s grandmother just shy of a month later July 15. Casey Anthony was arrested by police the next day on charges of child neglect. She told officials that her daughter had vanished with a babysitter.

Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder, manslaughter and child abuse charges during her trial in 2011.
