April may be full of spring sunshine, but it also has a dark history. Often dubbed “the most dangerous month of the year,” April has seen some of the nation’s most infamous tragedies — including the Lincoln assassination, the Columbine school shootings, the Waco siege and, on this day in 2013, the Boston Marathon bombing. That’s when brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev planted two homemade bombs near the marathon’s finish line, killing three people and injuring hundreds more, including several who lost limbs.
