(NewsNation) — The Mama Drama is working for Hilary Duff.
In the wake of the Toxic Mom Group saga, Duff has sold out her remaining solo appearances at Voltaire at the Venetian in Las Vegas, which bodes well for her “Luck.. or Something” album set to drop Feb. 20.
Duff was pegged to be part of a “high school” mom group Ashley Tisdale wrote about earlier this month in an essay for The Cut fittingly titled, “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group”.
In the essay, Tisdale said she stepped away from the group after she felt she was often excluded from group activities.
“It took me back to an unpleasant but familiar feeling I thought I’d left behind years ago,” she wrote. “Here I was sitting alone one night after getting my daughter to bed, thinking, Maybe I’m not cool enough? All of a sudden, I was in high school again, feeling totally lost as to what I was doing ‘wrong’ to be left out.”
Tisdale, 40, claimed she saw members of the group hang out on Instagram without her and was once seated at the far end of the table during a dinner party, away from the other women.
“The High School Musical” star said that while she was subjected to this type of treatment in high school, as an adult, she had to “speak up” for herself.
She also mentioned that the group had made plans to hang out together, without Tisdale, at her daughter’s birthday party.
After another get-together without her was planned, Tisdale said she texted the group: “This is too high school for me, and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.”
Ashley Tisdale doesn’t mention names, unfollows Hilary Duff
While Tisdale did not specifically mention any names, celebrities including Duff, Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore allegedly are in the group — but Tisdale only unfollowed Duff and Moore (she is still following Trainor).
Following Tisdale’s post, Duff’s partner, Matthew Koma, trolled Tisdale by posting a story on his Instagram mocking Tisdale’s story.
Atop a portrait of Koma looking pensive, a headline read, “A mom group tell all through a father’s eyes: When You’re the Most Self-Obsessed Tone Deaf Person on Earth, Other Moms Tend to Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.”
“Matthew gave her what she had coming,” a source familiar with the feud told Page Six, claiming Tisdale is “insufferable.”
Meanwhile, Duff wasn’t the only mom in Tisdale’s group to use the scandal as promotion. Trainor also rode the publicity wave to promote her album, Toy With Me, on Instagram.
Last week, Trainor posted a story on the site — set to the tune of her song “Still Don’t Care” — of her perusing all the stories spawned by Tisdale’s piece looking shocked.
