(The Hill) – White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she is pregnant with her second child on Friday, the day after Christmas.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in history, wrote in a statement on Instagram.

Her son, Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, is a little over a year old and has made frequent appearances in the press briefing room during special events.

On Friday, Leavitt thanked the Trump administration for supporting her as a mother throughout her stint as press secretary.

“I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!” she wrote in the Instagram post.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, she added, “Nearly all of my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we all really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working for the greatest president ever.”

An administration official told Fox News that Leavitt is set to remain at her position as Trump’s top spokesperson, making the first time a White House press secretary was known to be expecting a child.
