(NewsNation) — The body of a Nebraska mother who had been missing for more than a year has been discovered, according to multiple reports.

The body of 30-year-old Jerica Hamre was found on a rural farm north of Oxford, according to Lincoln Police Department Capt. Ben Miller.

A person of interest is currently in custody on unrelated charges, according to Miller.

KOLN-TV reports Hamre was last seen on June 25, 2024, at her home in Lincoln. She was reported missing days later.

“Our heart breaks for Jerica’s family and friends who, for the last 18 months, have been searching for answers,” Miller said at a news conference Monday.

Police believe Hamre had been dead for some time.

Hamre’s exact cause of death has not been released, but the case is being investigated as a homicide.
