SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Terminal 1 at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has fully reopened after a suspicious package investigation earlier. SFO said the terminal is open and all ticket counters are open.

However, there is still heavy roadway congestion so that airport is advising travelers to allow extra time to get to the airport and consider dropping off at the International Terminal and taking the AirTrain.

Earlier, authorities had shut down the upper-level roadway to Terminal One at SFO due to the investigation.

“Terminal 1 Departures Level lobby is closed due to police activity,” SFO said in a tweet. “Please avoid the departures level of the domestic terminals.”

The San Francisco Police Department told KRON4 it was clearing an unattended item on the upper level of Terminal 1. Police said traffic is being diverted from domestic terminals to the International Terminal due to traffic congestion.

SFPD said officers initially responded to a suspicious package report at 8:15 a.m. The area was evacuated for police to conduct the investigation.
