SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A previously missing 29-year-old man with autism ran away again on Monday night after being released from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hospital in Salt Lake City.

August Beckwith, who previously went missing on Nov. 17 and was located 24 days later in Taylorsville, has gone missing for the second time.

His mother, Lori Beckwith, said that upon discharge from the LDS hospital on Monday, he ran away heading south. He was last seen around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and N. Canyon Rd and is presumed to be continuing south.

According to Lori, he was last seen wearing a gray cap and a solid light blue hoodie, shown in the photo below.

Lori also said that he has no shoes, coat, phone, or money.

The case has been reported to the Salt Lake Police Department, and August is once again listed on the NCIC Missing and Endangered Person’s List as well as has an “Attempt to Locate” (ATL.)

He will most likely be seeking resources either through the homeless populations or homeless shelters, according to Lori.

Lori told ABC4 that August has autism and was previously non-verbal, but according to Lori, now uses “selective speech,” a condition that comes and goes depending on his stress and safety levels.

Lori said that August was seen by a witness seeking a ride from strangers.

Anyone who has information about August’s whereabouts, can call 9-1-1 or Lori at 801-232-5828.

There is no further information available at this time.
