(NewsNation) — A delegation of Ukrainian officials is en route to the United States to meet American officials to discuss the efforts to end the war, according to Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.

A White House official confirmed to NewsNation that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will meet with the Ukrainians in Miami.

“The Ukrainian delegation is already en route to the United States – to continue work on coordinating further steps aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace,” Umerov posted, in part, to X. “In the United States, we will continue coordinating all the developments that were formed during the meetings in Geneva. Ukraine continues its systematic and constructive diplomatic efforts for the sake of a dignified peace.”

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, a U.S. delegation traveled to Geneva to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump initially set a Thanksgiving Day deadline for reaching a deal. While that timeline appears to have been pushed back, the president has continued to tout progress.

“We’re having good talks. We started with Russia, we’re having some talks with Russia,” Trump said. “Ukraine is doing well. I think they’re pretty happy about it.”

U.S. and Ukrainian officials confirmed Tuesday they had agreed upon a 28-point plan to end the war with Russia after nearly four years. Trump said he’s open to meeting with Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy — but only when a deal is near completion.
