(NewsNation) — Brian Walshe, a Massachusetts man who was set to go on trial for killing his wife in 2023, has pleaded guilty to two lesser charges related to her death.

Walshe pleaded guilty to charges of misleading a police investigation and improper conveyance of a human body Tuesday, just before jury selection began. He maintains his innocence in Ana Walshe’s killing.

Walshe faces a maximum sentence of 10 years for the investigation charge and a maximum of three years on the charge related to the disposal of his wife’s body.

Police said Walshe suspected his wife of having an affair.

Ana Walshe was last seen in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2023, when she left her home in Cohasset, Massachusetts, for a business trip in Washington, D.C. Police said she never got on the plane. The night before, the couple had hosted a New Year’s Eve dinner for friends.

Brian Walshe was arrested on Jan. 18, 2023, and charged with murder, misleading a police investigation/obstruction of justice and improper conveyance of a human body.

His wife’s body has not yet been found.
