(NewsNation) — Cynthia Erivo came to the immediate defense of her “Wicked” co-star Ariana Grande after a fan jumped and grabbed her.
The two were in Singapore for the “Wicked: For Good” premiere and were walking the yellow carpet arm-in-arm with Michelle Yeoh when the incident, which spread across social media, happened.
The “Eternal Sunshine” singer can be seen blowing kisses to fans behind a barricade when a man jumped the barricade, ran up to her and wrapped his arm around her while jumping up and down.
The Tony award winner quickly removed the man from Grande as bodyguards surrounded them.
Videos show a visibly shaken Grande being comforted by both Erivo and Oscar-winner Yeoh before continuing down the yellow carpet.
Pyjama Man reveals he jumped on Ariana Grande
Johnson Wen, known under the social media handle “Pyjama Man,” confirmed on Instagram that he was the person who attacked the “Into You” singer, posting on his Instagram Story, “I am free after being arrested.”
He also posted the video of the incident on Instagram, captioning it, “Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”
Social media users quickly commented under the post, calling out Wen for his behavior.
A Brazilian “Wicked” musical fan page wrote, “Do you think this is okay? This is sick! It ruined the experience for fans who dreamed of this moment and put lives at risk. All for pure ego! Seek help.”
Another person said, “You literally assaulted her. This isn’t a flex, it’s a crime. Shame on you!”
Pyjama Man interrupts other stars
Wen has videos of himself jumping up on stage while music artists are performing at their shows.
In October 2024, he jumped on the stage while The Weeknd was performing at his concert, wrapping his arm around the singer before security removed him from the stage.
He captioned the post, “@theweeknd it was cool chatting with while on the Stage.”
In another video, Wen ran on stage while Katy Perry was performing, wrapped his arm around her and jumped up and down.
An uncomfortable Perry could be seen walking away from him before security guards ran onto the stage to deal with him.
