TEWKSBURY, Mass. (WPRI) — The Duxbury woman accused of strangling her three kids to death before attempting to take her own life two years ago is requesting a change of venue for her upcoming trial.

Kevin Reddington, Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, filed a motion in Plymouth Superior Court Monday asking to move the trial to Suffolk Superior Court in Boston.

“The allegations on the charges are violent and intriguing and they certainly have been portrayed in a fashion in the media so as to guarantee extensive, exploitive prejudicial publicity,” Reddington explained. “In this case it is impossible for [Clancy] to receive a fair trial in Plymouth County.”

Reddington added that the media has shown “no responsible concern” for Clancy’s constitutional guarantee of a fair trial.”

“In this case, [Clancy] has already been tried in the public eye,” he said, noting that the media has portrayed her in a “highly inflammatory way.”

Reddington also explained that, not matter how extensively potential jurors are questioned, “the court cannot ensure that the potential venire has been untouched by the extensive prejudicial publicity.”

Clancy is accused of strangling her three children with exercise bands inside their Summer Street home back in January 2023. She then tried to take her own life by jumping out of a second-story window.

Though Clancy survived the fall, she’s now paralyzed from the waist down.

Her eldest children, 5-year-old Cora Clancy and 3-year-old Dawson Clancy, were rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead. Her youngest child, 7-month-old Callan Clancy, spent several days in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.

Prosecutors argue that Lindsay planned to kill her three children by sending her husband to pick up takeout from a restaurant they don’t normally visit. She also reportedly used Apple Maps to determine how long it would take him to return.

Reddington has repeatedly argued that Lindsay sought treatment for post-partum depression after having her youngest child and was overprescribed psychiatric medication.

Lindsay, who’s still receiving treatment at Tewksbury Hospital, pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder in October 2023. Her trial is slated to begin in early February, though Reddington has also requested it be pushed to May or further due to several unresolved pretrial matters.

Plymouth County Superior Court Judge Beverly Cannone is expected to consider Reddington’s motion to move the trial on Nov. 18.
