MOUNT DORA, Fla. (WFLA) — Some central Florida roads and yards were left washed out and heavily damaged after weekend storms dumped over a foot of rain in some spots.

The City of Mount Dora shared photos to social media showing how roads buckled and yards washed away Sunday night. The city is located northwest of Orlando.

“These photos show just a glimpse of what our teams are seeing in the field as they work to mark hazards, begin repairs, and restore safe travel routes,” city officials wrote.

Nearly 18 inches of rain fell in Mount Dora over 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service’s Melbourne office. The nearby town of Eustis recorded just under 20 inches.

City officials urged residents to use caution when navigating around the area as crews work to repair the flood damage.
